C.Jai was born into a musical family in Southern New Jersey and grew up in NorthEast Baltimore where she found her own love for music. “When I was a kid, I would go to church every Sunday and watch the drummers in the praise and worship teams so I could go home and copy what they did. And somewhere along the way, it just became obvious to me that music is my passion.”

Despite her relocation from the rural fields of New Jersey to the metropolitan areas of Baltimore she found her sound within both homes and began cultivating her sound while attending Baltimore School for the Arts as a percussion major. Shortly after graduation she found herself as a music production instructor at local nonprofits, “Music is not only therapeutic but it is also a universal language that speaks to people from all walks of life,” she says. “Aside from my passion for music I am also a passionate humanitarian, I aspire to build up my community in as many ways as possible!” That impressive work ethic has led to a myriad of gigs and collaborations, as well as an international fanbase.

Will she ever leave Baltimore? “As a New Morean, Baltimore will always be like home to me. I still have a lot of the world left to explore but nothing compares to Baltimore.”
